When was the first AI ever created or was it put into application? Before we answer that, you might already know Alan Turing and his work known as the Turing machines. All modern computers are in essence universal Turing machines. Back to the question, the earliest successful AI program was written in 1951 by Christopher Strachey and it was used to run a game of checkers.
With the recent attention given to ChatGPT, a new race has begun. Spearheaded by Google and Microsoft, both have scrambled to dedicate resources to show what their AI are capable of. Google had Bard while Microsoft had their Bing search engine integrated with AI. During this first round of battle it seemed that Microsoft had won. With Google losing $100 billion in stock after its Google Bard demonstration showed some mistakes.
While there are some concerns about generative AI (and AI in general) potentially taking jobs from us humans. Especially jobs that require creation of content like writers. We should not be quick to judge. Remember that in the past, the Industrial Revolution was a concern, where it would take jobs. Yes it did take up some work from us humans, but it also opened up other opportunities and fields of work we can focus on now that some of the heavy lifting has been taken care of.
